     Killed at Chateau Thierry near Le Charnel, July 26, 1918. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac South, R.F.D. No. 1, Massena, Iowa. Private South was killed by a machine gun bullet while advancing over a camouflaged road near Le Charnel.

        Killed July 26th at Chateau Thierry near Le Charnel. Son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Snelson, Summerset, Iowa. Private Snelson was killed by a high explosive shell near the road leading north from Le Charnel. This was the first action in the advance on Sergy. Private Snelson was respected by all his comrades.
