Honor Roll of Boys who Died Going Over

Max L. Hubbell

Private, Company M

#102634

Killed May 15, 1918 in the trenches. Buried in Pexonne Cemetery, Grave no. 16. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hubbell, Atlantic, Iowa.    During the night of May 15, 1918, our guns were bombarding the German front line positions. The shells from one of our batteries kept falling within our own lines, and we could not tell from which gun they were coming. Our artillery men were notified but failed to remedy the evil. One of the shells entered our own dugout and killed Max instantly.
