Pvt. John Weno, Jr.

 

Body of Soldier Who Died in Camp Can Not Be Found


Special to the Gazette, Iowa City, Nov 28 - Death has claimed another Johnson county soldier boy, but where his lifeless body lies is unknown. John Weno, Jr., son of John Weno, Sr., a prominent farmer of Penn township, died somewhere in camp on Oct. 25. Private Weno went south in August. Having failed to receive word from him during recent weeks his parents set on foot an investigation and they have learned from the war department that he died Oct. 25, but they have been unable thus far to ascertain what caused his death, or where it occurred. He was 29. His parents and a sister and a brother survives.
