Wounded in action at Ligny-St. Flochel on the British front.
Died of his wounds at the British hospital at Averdoingt..
Major Gary resided in Sioux City and was married here shortly
before going to Canada where he joined the Canadian forces
when the Dominion became engaged in the World War. He was
decorated for bravery by King George of England, winning his
Victoria Cross and Bar.
Buried in the British Cemetery at Averdoingt, France.
