The Altar in the Hall of Honor

Upon the pure white marble walls of the central hall of the Graceland Park Mausoleum are erected bronze tablets to the memory of Sioux City Gold Stars. When the memorial will have been completed there will be 114 tablets lettering in imperishable bronze the history of the complete sacrifices of Sioux Cityans who laid down their lives for their country in the World War. The gracious spirit of the Graceland Park Cemetery Association is again manifested here. The beautiful and costly walls of the Hall of Honor were given to the Monahan Post for memorial purposes. The Gold Star Ceremonials enacted at the Auditorium, May 27, 28, 29, 1923, have as one of their purposes the realization of funds to erect tablets for those who are as yet unremembered.
