Clair Arthur Kinney

1st Lieut. Aero Squadron

 

 

     Died in a German hospital after being wounded in a mid-air battle. He had brought down two enemy planes before his plane caught fire from unknown causes. He fell with his burning plane behind enemy lines. He received many bullet wounds in the fighting before his plane dashed to earth.

     Awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross.

     Buried in a cemetery at Stenay, France.

     Son of M. P. Kinney, Edicott, Washington. Brother of Lynn Kinney, Sioux City, Iowa.

      Died of pneumonia in a Base Hospital in France.

      Buried in October, 1918, in an American Cemetery in France.

      Brother of Mrs. Andrew Dahl, 1128 Alice Street, Sioux City, Iowa. Nephew of Olaf Oien, 321 Ross Street, Sioux City, Iowa.
