Killed October 1, 1918, on the western front.
Private Bailie was working on a farm near Leeds, Iowa, when
the United States entered the war. He was rejected in the
examination for service with the American troops on account of
health. He then applied and was accepted in the Canadian army,
with whom he served until he was killed in action.
