Old Friends Day

Old Friends Day, which is sponsored annually by the Thursday Reading Circle was observed Thursday at the church social room, when about 50 former residents and old friends enjoyed dinner, followed by an hour of visiting preceding the program:  Welcome, Mrs. Hattie Odekirk, pres.; Response, Mrs. Henry Hettler, Fayette; Auld Lang Syne, by all, led by Mary Severson; Skit, "It happens in the best of families," Irene McFadden and Sarah Hoepfner; Solo, "Mammy's Little Coal Black Rose," Mary Severson; Playlet, "The Cure for Neuralgia," by six club women. Three bouquets were awarded, one to the oldest club member present, Mrs. Sarah Tiffany; to the one present who had lived in Fayette county the longest, Mrs. Carrie Vought, and to the one who had come the farthest, Miss Helen O'Bryan, Waterloo. the program was concluded by all singing God Bless America.
