Dubuque County Veteran's Survey
~source:  Issues of the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald from May 20 thru July 25, 1940
~transcribed and submitted by Sharyl Ferrall Clayton and Allamakee IAGenWeb

Informational Notes
2) If a soldier was listed with more than one possible first or surname, they have been listed here under both names.  The alternate first or surname will be found in the remarks column.  These alternate names are part of the original text.
3) The designation "War (doubtful)" is not explained further
4) A few of the published lists were very difficult to read, and parts were completely illegible.  Names that could be read were transcribed in whole or as much as visible.  A dash or ?  indicates one or more missing letters.
5) Duplicate names listed in different towns or townships have been entered twice, the transcriber making no effort to determine if they are the same soldier.
6) The transcriber has made every effort to accurately transcribe the name lists from the various Telegraph-Herald issues, but can not verify that the information given in the newspapers was accurate or complete.
