Promoted to Eighth Corporal February 1, 1863; to Seventh Corporal May 22, 1863. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Died September 9, 1905 at Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. Buried at Floyd Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa

Ellis, Ethiel C. Age 42. Residence Estherville, nativity New York. Enlisted as Private September 24, 1861. Mustered November 18, 1861. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out November 22, 1864 in Sioux City, Iowa. Receiving pension in 1888. Wife, Helen, receiving pension in 1890. Both in Iowa. Died in April 18, 1890 at 71 years in Spirit Lake, Dickinson County, Iowa. Buried Lake View Cemetery, Spirit Lake, Dickinson County, Iowa.

Died May 16, 1914 at U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, Hampton, Virginia and is buried at Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton, Virginia, Plot: 10595.

Gaugh, Christian T. Age 37. Residence Sioux City, nativity Pennsylvania. Enlisted October 14, 1861 and mustered November 18, 1861 in Sioux City Cavalry. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out on November 23, 1864 at Sioux City, Iowa. Died September 10, 1898. Buried at Mount Mora Cemetery, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.

Godfrey, William. Age 31. Nativity Ireland. In 1860 he is a Saddler at Fort Randall, Dakota Territory. Enlisted September 1861 as a (Two records; one as Private, the other as Saddler) and into Sioux City Cavalry on November 20, 1861 and promoted to Full Saddler. Transferred to Company I, Iowa 7th Cavalry July 14, 1863. Mustered out on June 22, 1866 at Sioux City, Iowa. Died in 1888 in Woodbury County, Iowa.

Guptill, Levi C. Age 25. Residence Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa. Nativity Maine. Enlisted September 24, 1861. Mustered November 18, 1861 as a Private. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Born 23 May 1836 in Maine to Daniel and Eunice Clark Guptill. In 1850 Census, living in North Berwick, York County, Maine. In 1865 Minnesota Census, living in Red Wing, Goodhue County. In 1870 Census, living as an engineer in Memomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin with wife Henrietta Davis, born about 1831 in New Hampshire and son Fred L., born about 1867 in Wisconsin. In 1880 Census, still living in Memomonie as a foreman in a steam mill with Henrietta and Fred along with an adopted son Herman born about 1861 in Germany. Listed in 1888-1890 Directory as a machinist at 1115 Lombard, Seattle. Applied for pension on 24 Aug 1897 in Washington state. In 1900 Census living in Martin Creek, King County, Washington, widowed and in 1920 Census living in Seattle, King County, Washington with wife Susan born about 1833. He died January 21, 1921 at Seattle, King County, Washington, burial place unknown.

Halley (Haley), William. Age 28. Residence Monona, Iowa. Nativity Ireland. Enlisted September 25, 1861. Mustered November 14, 1861 Sioux City Cavalry. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out June 22, 1866, Sioux City, Iowa.

Hardin, John. Age 33. Residence Sioux City, Iowa, nativity Pennsylvania. Enlisted as a Private September 26, 1861. Mustered in Sioux City Cavalry November 18, 1861. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out November 28, 1864 at Sioux City, Iowa.

Henderson, Robert. Age 21. Residence Spirit Lake, nativity Maryland. Enlisted September, 24, 1861. Mustered November 18, 1861. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out on November 23, 1864. Died December 24, 1906. Buried Delta Cemetery, Delta, Delta County, Colorado.

Obituary

Henry, William R. The Roster and Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of Rebellion has him as enlisting in the Iowa Sioux City Cavalry and mustering out on September 25, 1861. Another undocumented source has him being rejected September 25, 1861, by the Mustering Officer. It is quite possible this is the same William R. Henry who enlisted on July 26, 1862 as an officer in Company E, Iowa 23rd Infantry Regiment.

Hipkins, John. Age 35. Residence Sioux City, nativity Maryland. Enlisted September 25, 1861. Mustered November 14, 1861. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Mustered out November 23, 1864. Died in Leavenworth, Kansas February 2, 1903. Buried in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Section 16, Row 5, Site 16.

Buried Elgin Cemetery, Fayette County, Iowa. (Note: Cemetery records have his birth date as 1845; Census records show about 1842.)

Houser, Daniel H. Residence Sioux City, Age 23, enlisted December 18, 1863 as a Private. Enlisted in Company I, Iowa 7th Cavalry Regiment on January 19, 1864. Promoted to Full 4th Corporal on 20 Dec 1865. Promoted to Full 7th Corporal on May 1, 1865. Promoted to Full 5th Corporal on September 1, 1865. Promoted to Full 8th Corporal on February 4, 1865. Mustered out on June 22, 1866 at Sioux City, Iowa. Buried at Graceland Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. Provided by Linda Linn on October 23, 2010: "According to the Iowa Graves Registration, Daniel Houser was born on April 24, 1838 and died January 9, 1929. This new military stone was dedicated in May 2010.

Hungerford, Louis B. (Lewis) Residence Plymouth Rock, Iowa. Age 25, enlisted as a Private on December 28, 1863. Enlisted in Company I, 7th Cavalry Regiment on January 19, 1864. Mustered out on June 22, 1866 at Sioux City. Died February 25, 1918 at Sioux City. Buried in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa.

Jenkins, George. Age 33. Residence Estherville, Emmet County, Iowa. Nativity New York. Enlisted Sioux City Calvary September 24, 1861. Mustered November 14, 1861. Transferred to Company I, Seventh Cavalry, July 14, 1863. Died February 19, 1918 at Kaloma, Washington. Buried at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens, Kelso, Cowlitz County, Washington. Obituary indicates he moved to the middle west after the Civil War but in fact census records had him in Iowa before 1860.
