The cemeteries surround the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church.	From the Des Moines County Genealogical Society Reading: Pleasant Grove/Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery is located on the north edge of Pleasant Grove which is in the north central part of Section 11, Pleasant Grove township, Des Moines County, Iowa. To drive to the cemetery, go north out of Danville, Iowa on X31 for 7 miles, turn east on Hwy. 40 for 1-1/2 miles, then go south for about 1/5 mile. The cemetery is on your right, both in front and in back of the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church. There are many old stones on the east side of the church. Time and weather have taken its toll on many of them. Many are broken off and lying on the ground and there are many unmarked graves. The cemetery was nicely mowed and well kept. The cemetery was originally copied on May 1974 by Frederick G. Brown, Kay Brown, Dorothy Goudie and Vernon Goudie. Revised in the spring of 1979 by Vernon Goudie and Martin Koss. The Goudies and Koss are members of the Des Moines County Genealogical Society of Burlington, Iowa.
