THEODORE WOEPKING

Theodore Woepking, who has for a number of years occupied a prominent position in the business world of Burlington, Iowa, as a leading hardware merchant, was born in Burlington Feb. 16, 1864, and for his education is indebted to the public schools of this city. On leaving school he took employment as a clerk for Mr. L. Tenscher, with whom he remained for a period of eighteen to twenty months, and thereafter was engaged as a painter for a year and a half. He then decided to take up the tinner’s trade, and went to work with his brother, William. After serving an apprenticeship at the tinner’s bench, on Feb. 14, 1898, he began business for himself at his present location, 1700 Osborn Street, where he carries a large line of hardware and builder’s supplies, also having a tin and job shop in connection, and executing all kinds of sheet metal work.Dec. 29, 1887, he was married to Miss Anna Best, a native of Franklin, Iowa. They have two sons, Warner and Harry. Mr. Woepking is identified in a fraternal way with the Burlington organization of the Modern Woodmen of America, and is extensively known in fraternal and social circles. He has achieved material prosperity in proportion to his ability and merits, and success has been his in generous measure. He enjoys the general respect and regard, and the public spirit which has characterized his business life entitles him to universal consideration.
