SIMONS, Charles, farmer. Sec. 24; P. O. Colesburg;  born in Tioga Co., N. Y., April 12; 1836, came to this county in 1849, and moved to this farm in 1368. Was married Oct. 14, 1857, to Jane Dickson, daughter of Missouri Dickson, who came to this county in 1838, and settled on this farm, a large portion of which now be­longs to his daughter; she was the first white child born in this township— born Dec. 14, 1839; owns 340 acres of land. Have five children— Edgar, Sarah R, Charles D., Wm. H. and Mary J.  Mr. S. was School Director three years. His father, F. B. Simons, resides with him; he was born in Tioga Co., N. Y., in 1804; was married, in 1825, to Sarah Rewey, who died in New York Jan. 23, 1847; was the mother of four children, of whom Charles is the only survivor.

Steadman, who was born in Canada, in 1849; have two children-----Fred C., born Oct. 10, 1867, and Edwin R., born Sept. 15, 872; has been Secretary of the  School Board twelve years; Mrs. W. is a member of the M. E. church.
