History: New Buda Cemetery took it's name from a Hungarian settlement to the east of the cemetery.

This cemetery is also known as McLain Cemetery for it is mostly a family plot (McLain and Woods). John McLain and wife, Mary Mariah, settled Section 15 with their 12 children in 1854. John and Mary's infant daughter, Mary Bell McLain, died on September 12, 1859, and was New Buda Cemetery's first interment. Their sons, John and Mary's son John died in 1861 and their son David in 1862.

A dirt lane runs east from the main road. After coming to end of the lane, there is a 100 yard walk north to the cemetery. It is a pretty and well-cared for cemetery. A cedar tree marks each corner.

Linda Ziemann observed in 2009, "Unfortunately there now is only one large tombstone standing upright. This cemetery has fallen prey to vandalism. So sad!"
