| History: More commonly known as McCullough
Cemetery, because most burials are from the McCullough family. No one knows where the name “McAllister” comes from, although there was a McAllister School nearby. There is no road to the fenced-in cemetery; it can be reached through the pasture from the house driveway. At one time there was a more direct lane, but the road was washed out. (A Dr. B.R. McAllister of Decatur County, practiced in Leon.) Deed #156 p. 506 book 156 Emory O. Lovett & wife, Mary A., to Trustees High Point Twp. June 10, 1907 $30. “containing one acre more or less known as “McAllister Burying Ground” for cemetery purposes only and to be maintained and known as “McAllister Cemetery.” |
