The Comstock School closed during Iowa's school reorganization of the mid to late 1950's, as did most country schools. In time it was moved west across the road from its original site to Thayer Toney's property and was converted into a granary. It still serves as a farm outbuilding.

In 2009, the trustees erected signs at the original country school house sites throughout Richland Township.
