Elm Grove (a.k.a. Goin) School No. 8

John A. Goin (1813-1900) of Long Creek Township was a member of the school board and held the office of school director.

As one country school after another closed during Iowa's dissolution of the rural school system, Elm Grove School No. 8 remained open. It was the last rural school in operation within Decatur County. The school, however, closed upon completion of the 1959-60 school year.
