The Pioneer School, built in 1889, was located on the Leon-Lineville Road approximately 15 miles northeast of Lamoni in Morgan Township. Vicki (McVicker) Ross, a 1950 Graceland Graduate, donated the school house. The school was moved to the Iowa Welcome Center, two miles east of Lamoni and west off of exit 4, Interstate-80. The schoolhouse was transported in three pieces since the roof had to be removed for the trip. It was then restored by Orman Broomer, a Graceland graduate of the Class of 1953, and his crew in 2007. Vicki Ross financed the restoration project.

Be sure to check out more about Pioneer School during its "School Days" in Morgan Township! We believe this is the same school.
