PRICE FAMILY roots go to Wales, however, our first record is with WILLIAM PRICE. Originally born in Somerset Co., PA, where his first 4 children were born, he had moved to Ravenna, Portage Co., OH by 1806. There he and his wife, CATHERINE BARBARY (BOOSINGER) lived and raised their family of 10 children. Incredibly, all lived to adulthood. Their third child, JONATHAN PRICE, born in 1800, is pictured here with 4 of his numerous grandchildren. This picture was taken after the death of his son EBENEZER PRICE, the children's father. Children are Frances, Arthur, Calvin and Ira.
EBENEZER PRICE obtained land from the government in Van Wert, Iowa after the gold rush, in 1851. He married SARAH MELISSA (TIFT), pictured above on the right. Their daughter was born before his Civil War enlistment and the boys after his return. After Ebenezer's death in 1872, Sarah married twice. She had a daughter, Vira Gaskill with G. Gaskill, and two sons with Ira Milton Hudson, Armand & Oren.
Sarah died in 1888 when her last child was only 7.
Vira lived with Frances until her death when she was still a young girl. All are buried in the Van Wert, IA cemetery.
The fourth child of Ebenezer & Sarah, IRA FESTUS PRICE, grew to manhood and ultimately married a granddaughter of the Jesse Roberts Family, neighbors of the Prices. ISA MAE ROBERTS, as was her husband, was born and raised in Van Wert, Iowa. They settled in Oklahoma Territory during the land rush of 1893 and that's where their three children were born. The family returned to Van Wert in the early 1900's, where the children, Donald, Gladys and Clare attended school. Clare was only nine when he died of Diptheria in 1911. Ira and Isa lived in Van Wert all of their lives. Donald moved to California as an adult and Gladys lived in Leon, Iowa until the time of her death.
