There will be a Sunday School convention at New Salem Church next Sunday.

DIED: -- At the residence of his son near Pleasanton, on the l6th day of November, JEREMIAH S. COPELAND, aged 76 years. MR. COPELAND was a native of Ohio, but had resided 28 years in Fayette County, Iowa, and the last three years in Decatur County.

Corn husking is nearly over; yield from 30 to 50 bushels per acre and in some places 70 bushels. On flat land some pieces were an entire failure. More wheat is sown this fall than usual and it looks well.

There will be a protracted meeting commence at the River-view Church on the State line next week and the church will be dedicated the second Sunday in December.

MRS. MARY REED went to Tuskeego Saturday to visit her daughter, MRS. PIERCY.

THOS. COX and DAN PETERS are headquarters for tambourine material. THOMAS furnishes the cats and DAN skins them and makes tambourines with which they will entertain the Hardscrabble literary this winter.

The Highbrier School commenced last Monday with MISS OGDEN as teacher.

J.M. STILL is building an addition to his house.

MR. HOUSE who lives on the KELLY farm, said he would have a dance if Bryan was elected and a wood hauling if McKinley was elected. We haven't heard of either one yet.

MISS LAURA ATHEY is teaching a very successful term of school at the Buzzard Roost School House this winter.

WM. MCDANIELS will preach at Mt. Tabor church every Sunday.

MRS. M.D. SHAMBLIN of Bethany, Mo. is the guest of P.E. SHIRLEY and family this week.
