The Lamoni Chronicle July 5, 1906 Lightning stirred things up pretty lively at J. S. SNIVELY's Saturday night. The bolt struck the front porch, entered the house near a window, tore down the window curtain and some plastering from the wall. Fortunately no one was hurt and no fire resulted. The Lamoni Chronicle July 5, 1906 Daniel Jones was the victim of a painful accident last Thursday evening. It seems he was leading a colt behind his buggy and in passing a team the colt stopped. Mr. JONES' hand got caught in the buggy someway, and as a result his thumb was nearly severed from his hand. Dr. Goff dressed the wound and hopes to save the injured member. The Lamoni Chronicle July 12, 1906 Dr. Bertha A. GREER was the victim of an unfortunate accident on the evening of the Fourth. She and her husband were out to make a call in the south part of town and were coming home when, in turning the corner just east of A. K. ANDERSON's residence, the buggy was upset and the doctor sustained severe bruises on the right side, two ribs being cracked. Dr. Foxworthy of Leon, who was called next day, attend to her injuries and she is getting along as well as could be expected. At present she is able to attend to her office practices and expects that in a very few days she will be able to make her usual drives. Copied by Stacey McDowell Dietiker April 25, 2003

The Lamoni Chronicle July 12, 1906 Ralph, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. TEALE, had the misfortune to fall from a cherry tree, Monday, and dislocate his right arm at the elbow. Dr. Greer was called, and, being unable on account of her own recent injuries, to do the work, administered anesthetics while Dr. Nye reduced the dislocation. The Lamoni Chronicle July 19, 1906 Mr. Clarence Martin of Orient, Iowa, came Wednesday and brought his wife to Dr. Greer's for treatment. The Lamoni Chronicle July 19, 1906 Joseph Adams, who lives about four miles northeast of town, is nursing a very bad hand. He came to town the Fourth, and in taking the hay from his wagon to feed his team, got a thistle in his hand. Nothing was thought of it at the time, but the next morning it began to pain him and has kept getting worse until now it is very badly swollen, and he says, there is danger of losing a finger. It is a bad hand but we hope to here (sic) of his recovery without the loss of the member. Copied by Stacey McDowell Dietiker April 25, 2003

The Lamoni Chronicle July 19, 1906 H. B. Spurrier, an old Lamoni boy, who has been filling the position of undertaker with the firm of Healy Bros., Aurora, Ill., has secured a situation as head embalmer with a large firm in Chicago.
