Miss Ella Parsons, of Allerton, is visiting her cousins of his place

Mrs. Robb has found her shawl, and the postmaster says it pays to advertise.

Chariton saloons were raided last week and a large amount of whiskey was found.

W. T. Sinclair, of Leroy, attended the Encampment exercises here last night.

The denizens of "Turkey Run" enjoyed a series of first class hoe downs the past week.

New Year was quiet in Leon, and most everybody took advantage of the sleighing and went visiting their country cousins.

Dr. D. M. Williams, aged 42 and Miss Emily Kitto, age 23 have been licensed to marry in Lucas county.

Isaac Tallman is very sick, and not expected to live. He is perhaps the oldest person in the county.

Jimmie Cree and Miss Lide Leachman were married in Davis City on Tuesday.--We hope neither will ever find it necessary to ask for a de-Cree.

One hundred and forty-seven years were yesterday tolled on the M.E. Church bell--Mr. Penniwell being 70 years old and Mr. McCready 77.

Mrs. Worley Glaze, of Chariton, and Mrs. Garner, of Oskaloosa, are visiting at James Goin's.

A lively little load of Leon lads and lasses spent New Years eve at John Albaugh's in Eden township.

Quite a congregation watched the "old year out and the new year in" at the M. E. Church Friday night.

A party of Leon's young folks spent a pleasant New Year at H.D. Richardson's Woodland plantation.

A protracted meeting will begin at the Christian Church next Sunday, Elder J. K. Cornell assisting his son, Elder A. B.

The sociable at the Presbyterian Church on Christmas evening was well attended and a good time was the result. A nice treat was on of the features of the occasion, which was enjoyed by all present. Such occasions are always pleasant to remember, and those who were present will not soon forget the occasion.

Miss Sue Young has just returned from a pleasant week's visit with Garden Grove friends, Grandfather Woodbury coming home with her.
