Alice Thomsen I was born in Davis County 64 years ago in Salt Creek Twp.. I went to a country school called Center School No. 5. It is long gone. I was wondering if there would be anyone who would know of its history, the teachers that taught there, when it first opened and when it closed? I also remember walking to a little country store with a gas pump.. It was called Chequest. Does anyone have any history on it that they could share with me? I also wondered if there is a creek in this township called Vesser Creek? My father said he knew an old man named Davis who remembered Indians hunting along Vesser Creek. Dad was born in 1895 in Van Buren County but moved to Davis County shortly thereafter.

Mr. Jones was a great help to me and helped me solove some real problems. I am trying to determine if a Ellen Lyons is interned there and..if..so..what possible info they might have on her. She was living with my gggrandfather (Benjamin Franklin Shull) as late as the end of 1901...she may well have been the mother of Ben's wife Sarah Lyons (also b. there) and is another family I am having a great deal of trouble researching. IF..Ellen Lyons is b. there I would sure appreciate any info they might have on her. Thanks alot for any help that you might offer, Bob Hamilton, in Az.

Cheska Wheatley  I'm researching the DONALD surname in Davis Co. Specifically, I am interested in verifying the death dates of William DONALD who is reported to have died 8 Oct 1868 at West Grove and his wife Elizabeth who died 8 Oct 1866 also at West Grove. These dates were sent to me several years ago by two researchers who are now deceased, and I failed to obtain their source of information. This information is needed for DAR and SAR applicants who descend from this couple.
I have a Jones connection in Davis County and wondered if we share the same family and research interests. My Jones connection is through Robert Campbell Jones (son of Allen Ennis Jones) b. 11 June 1793 in KY, his wife Martha Jane Nash or Gash b. 3 Apr 1797 KY through their daughter Minerva Cinthia Jones who married Robert Biers Wallace. Robert C. Jones and his brother Martin Mitchell Jones were in Davis County (Fox River) among the earliest settlers. They were previously in Randolph Co., MO. Any chance we are interested in the same Jones family or that you may have happened across something interesting you would like to pass on regarding my Jones 'kin'? Would appreciate anything you might be able to share. Yvonne Poet Hauan   11/96
