The Crawford County, Iowa, Genealogical Society, organized in January of 1986. This is a non-profit organization. Its purposes are to create and foster interest in genealogy, to collect, preserve and share this information. Members do not need to have Crawford County or Iowa ancestors to belong.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month (no meetings December). In the event of a holiday, the meeting is held on the following Tuesday. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. at the Norelius Community Library, 1403 1st Ave South, Denison, Iowa.
Dues for the calendar year are $10.00 per member (no family memberships). Dues received after November 1st are credited to the following year. Membership includes four issues of the society's quarterly newsletter.
Queries are published in the newsletters for members free and may be published for non-members at a cost of $2.00 per query. Queries may be limited to one query per issue and published as space permits. The editor reserves the right to edit queries. Queries should have a Crawford County connection, be limited to 50 words, and if possible, typed.
Local members can do lookups from library sources (Centennial Books/Crawford County Histories/Denison Newspapers/etc) and courthouse records (as time permits). For additional information please Email.
