Anton Albert Frahm (1908 - 1990)

Anton Albert Frahm, the son of Johann and Emma Streit Frahm, was born near Kiron, Ia., Jan. 20, 1908, and died at his farm near Dow City, July 24, 1990, at the age of 82 years.

Anton received his early education in Stockholm Township, near Kiron, moving with his family to Denison at the age of 13 years. He continued his education in Denison, graduating from the Denison High School and attended the University of Iowa at Iowa City for one year.

He was baptized as a Christian, Feb. 23, 1908, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stockholm Township and later reaffirmed his Christian Faith on Dec. 2, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison where he was a faithful member at the time of his death.

"Our father died while doing that which he loved best - farming. His passion for farming exceeded all other activity. The land was held sacred by him as God's gift. He was God's steward of the land, with a true and binding love for the soil. Its preservation and future were paramount in his every day thoughts, deeds and philosophy. His ability and vision made him a pioneer in soil conservation. Anton sacrificed a lot in order to be close to the land. Often he labored late into the night to nurture, develop and improve God's earth.

Our dad was a loving, fair, honest, hard working person. He always had a sympathetic ear and a positive word or joke for all of mankind. He grew up in an age when these traits were the rule and not the exception. Anton always did the best with what he had. One of his biggest joys was making something useful from nothing. Dad took his marriage vows seriously as he did his commitment to fatherhood. His humanity to all was one of deep concern and caring.

Our father's presence and character is one we will dearly miss. It gives us peace and strength to know God has already put him to work on his Farm of Souls in Heaven."
