Will of Solomon Barber

(From Will Book 1)

I Solomon Barber of the township of Olive Clinton County and State of Iowa being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament.

First: It is my will that all my just debts be paid off.

Second: I will and bequeath to Mrs. mary P. Barber all the personal and real estate of which am now or herinafter may be seized of during her natural life and at ther death to Wm H Barber, Orlando H Barber Daniel L Barber and Horace P Barber my four sons and to them and their heir's and assigns for ever: subject to the following conditions

Third: It is my will that each of my sons above named on the of Mary P Barber shall pay out of any property they may inherit to my four daughters twenty five dollars each to said four daughters or their heirs.

Fourth: it is my will that shold my wife Mary Barber decease before my youngest son H P Barber and my youngest daughter ? arrive at the years of majority then and in that case it is my will that sufficient amount be set of to them of my property for their support and education until they arive to years of majority which is to be deducted equally out of the estate by ? bequeathed to my four sons above named.

Fifth: It is my will that my wife Mary P Barber be appointed my executrix of this my last will and that she faithfully carry the same into effect.
