1.  RICHARD BERNARD7 WYCKOFF  (JOHN6, CORNELIUS5, JOHN4, SIMON3, CONELIUS2, PIETER CLAUESEN1) was born October 28, 1815 in Delware Co. NY, and died January 25, 1896.  He married (1) ESTHER CHERRY JONES September 22, 1836 in Iowa.  She was born January 14, 1815 in Vermont, and died April 30, 1856 in Iowa.  He married (2) CHARLOTTE PURSSELL February 07, 1867.  She was born September 17, 1823.  

Notes for RICHARD BERNARD WYCKOFF: Richard Wyckoff left New York and went to Michigan.  He married and had a son,  Charles Wyckoff  in 1838.  Shortly thereafter the family moved to Iowa.  Charles was only 3-6 months old.   Information gathered from cemetery records and obituaries.

Notes for CHARLOTTE PURSSELL: Mrs. Charlotte Purssell's  first husband, Jesse Purssell, was killed near De Witt, in what was known as the  Camanche tornado, June 3, 1860.  Her maiden name was Traver.

She received Civil war Pension for death of first husband in the war.

2.  CHARLES8 WYCKOFF (RICHARD BERNARD7, JOHN6, CORNELIUS5, JOHN4, SIMON3, CONELIUS2, PIETER CLAUESEN1) was born January 12, 1838 in Michigan, and died October 16, 1918.  He married MARY AUGUSTUS WYCKOFF 1856 in by Thomas Person, Justice of the peace, daughter of HIRAM WYCKOFF and ELIZABETH HOWLAND.  She was born August 11, 1835 in Valona Springs, New York, and died April 16, 1908.

Notes for MARY AUGUSTUS WYCKOFF: There is talk that maybe Mary Augusta Wyckoff and Charles Wyckoff were cousins of some sort.  Her maiden name was Wyckoff too.

                 iv.       JOSEPH HENRY WYCKOFF, b. April 26, 1862; d. 1929, Buried, Oakland cemetery , Clinton IA; m. MARY (?); d. 1927, Buried in Oakland Cemetery , Clinton IA.  His wife Mary ? is buried beside him lot 76, section F, space 5 buried 1927. This couple was childless  I believe.

LD Smith lived with them for a time.  Henry worked for the Railroad and Lowell helped his Aunt Mary out on the farm while he was away.  He also kept Mary company.  My grandfather, Lowell, talked a lot about his Aunt Mary and Uncle Henry he loved them and liked to be at heir house.

Sometimes grandpa Smith (Lowell) when he was young went over to help out his Uncle Henry and Aunt Mary.  They were childless I believe.  Grandpa always had a warm spot in his heart for his aunt Mary.

6.  SAMUEL9 WYCKOFF (CHARLES8, RICHARD BERNARD7, JOHN6, CORNELIUS5, JOHN4, SIMON3, CONELIUS2, PIETER CLAUESEN1) was born April 07, 1867 in Fairfield IA, and died 1942 and is buried next to his wife in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton IA.  He married TENA LECKBAND February 02, 1898 in Jackson Co Iowa.  She died 1952.

        Samuel S. Wyckoff, 75 3122 Roosevelt Street, died at 7:40 A.M. today in Mercy hospital where he had been a patient the past three months.  The body reposes in the Shadduck Funeral home, where services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday .  Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. 

        Smauel Wyckoff, son of Charles and Mary Wyckoff, was born April 7, 1867 in Fairfield,  On Feb. 2, 1898 He was married to Miss Tena Leckband, in Jackson county.  The couple came here about 40 years ago, and had made their home here since.

        He was employed by The Clinton Co. for 25 years, retiring tow years ago.  He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America ........(missing text)

        Surviving are his widow..........children, Mrs Mabel Au.....  Mrs. Mildred Rich, San....  Lester Wyckoff, Oaklan.....  Mrs. Hazel Roenfeldt, Cli....  Mrs. Bernice Hart, Bell flow...  seven grandchildren; on si.... Charlotte Smith, Clinton.... brothers, Edward Wyckoff, ..... and John Wyckoff, Green Is.....

        He was preceded in death by ... Parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Notes for EDWARD CHARLES HESSION: Edward Charles Hession was Born Edward Charles Hickey.  His biological father, Charles Hickey died in 1917, the year Edward was born.    He died of the Flu Epidemic of 1917 along with thousands of other people.  Edward's birth mother, Helen Driscoll  gave up her child for adoption to the Sister of Charles Hickey , Elizabeth Lillian Hickey Hession. Charles Hickey is buried at St.  Peters Cemetery, Derby CT. (aw)

 Lowell D. Smith Jr., 80 

WOODSTOCK (CT) - Lowell David Smith Jr., 80 of Senexet Road died Monday at eh center for optimum Care in Waterford.  He was the widower of Adrienne (Loraine) Dooley Smith.  Born in Derby on Nov. 22 1917, he was a son of the late Lowell D. Sr. and Doris Walters [ error -  Rowland ][aw] Smith.  Mr. Smith was a 1938 graduate of the New York Military Academy and attended Parks  Air College.  He was employed at Bond Rubber in Derby and retired from the Delta Rubber Co. in 1981 as an engineering manager.  He is survived by sons, Brian Smith of Boerne, Texas, Garvin Smith of Scottsdale, AZ , and Lowell D. Smith III of Madison; daughters, Adrienne Davis of Madison (CT) and Debra Owen of Woodstock (CT); sisters , Doris Hession of Frankfort Mo., and Lois Seeley of Hiawatha, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren,.  He was predeceased by a brother, Glen smith and sisters, Carol Smith and Yvonne Van Etten.   

Obituary for Adrienne Lorraine Smith

Woodstock- Adrienne Lorraine Smith, 70, of 173 Senexet Road, wife to Lowelll D. Smith Jr., died Saturday at her home.

Born in Derby, March 5, 1921 she was the dughter of Frank and Loretta Larkin Dooley.  She lived in Woodstock since 1972, haveing moved ther from Orange.

She was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Chyurch of Pomfret.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons. Lowell D. Smith III of Madison, Brain Smith of San Antonio, Texas and Garvin Smith of Phoenix. Ariz.; two daughters, Adrienne Davis of Madison and Debbie Owen of Woodstock; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

                 iv.       GLENN WILLIS SMITH, b. March 27, 1920, Naugatuck, CT; d. September 01, 1990, Hospital of St. Rapheal; m. MARJORIE TRELOAR.

This is a letter sent to Marge Smith when her husband died:  

To the Smith family,

"Mr. Smith" helped raise more than his own kids on Highland Ave.  His vivid life experiences, his humor, incite and patience influenced the lives of a bunch of kids who grew up with Curt and Scott.  

I know I thought of him as a spare dad and a wise older pal who was always there and had the talent to put things in a funny persecutive when a kid just didn't want to hear the same answer fro his own parents.  

He will be missed by many and I know that my brother and I are richer for having grown up under his influence and that we will always enjoy found memories of him.

Floyd C. Smith, 93

Beaver, PA- A funeral service will be held for Floyd C. Smith, 93, of the Beaver Valley Geriatrics Center, formerly of New Haven, who died Tuesday, July 4, 1989, at the center.  He was the widower of Violet Mae Dolan Smith.

The service will be held at 11a.m. at the J.T.  Anderson Jr. and Son Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery , Industry

Mr. Smith son of the late David and Charlotte Wyckoff Smith was born in Clinton, Iowa, Sept. 20, 1895 and lived in Pennsylvania Since 1943.  He was a retired pipe fitter. 

He resided in New Haven from 1915 to 1943.  During that time he worked for the former Seamless Rubber Co. and Sponge Rubber Co.

He leaves a son, Richard W. Smith of Monaca, a daughter, Arlene Van Court. of Beaver; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Floyd C. Smith Jr., a grandson Craig Van Court; six brothers and three sisters.

Sept 23 1904, De Queen, Sevier Co. ARK. d. Jan. 17. 1974 in Milford, Iroquois Co. IL Buried  Watseka, Iroquois Co. IL . She died at a young age and left two young girls.
