A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's church for Earl J. SHERWOOD Sr., 64 of 616 S. 9th St., who died Thursday night in Rochester, Minn. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Fulton Ill.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Snyder-Schmitz funeral home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday.

Earl J. SHERWOOD was born Aug 11, 1902, in Clinton, the son of Edward and Mary SULLIVAN SHERWOOD. He was married Jan. 2, 1932, to Laura Marie DUCY, who preceeded him in death May 30, 1943. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was employed by the Clinton Corn Processing Co., retiring in 1966 after 24 years of service. He was a member of the local Grainmillers union.

Survivors include one son Earl J. Sherwood Jr., one brother, Lloyd Sherwood Sr., one sister, Mrs. L. Lampe and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his wife were his parents, one son and one brother.

Earl Joseph “Joe” Sherwood, Jr., age 74, of Argo Fay, Illinois died suddenly Saturday, August 18, 2007, at his home in Argo Fay, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Thomson, Illinois. Father Dennis Atto of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Illinois with Full Military Rites accorded by the Savanna VFW. Friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois, one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Fund has been established in Joe’s name. Joe was born August 6, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Earl and Laura (Ducy) Sherwood, Sr.. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Clinton. Joe served active duty in the U.S. Military for four years and then as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard for twenty years. He was a member of the VFW Post #2223, Savanna.

Joe was a man of many interests and skills. He was an avid water skier and a former member of the Waverly Ski Club and the Bald Eagle Water Club, Clinton, until a near-fatal car accident ended his skiing activity. He attended the Clinton Academy of Beauty and Hair and worked a short time as a Beautician. Joe taught school in Clinton, worked at Clinton Bridge works and Warren Industries, Clinton. He also worked at Swiss Colony and the Savanna Army Depot, Savanna, Illinois. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Yahtzee and cards, especially Cribbage.

Joe will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Lois, and an Uncle, Clayton Sherwood of Fulton. Although he had no children, he was a beloved step-father to Thomas Full of Florida, Sheryl Hines of Loves Park, Illinois, Mary Estey of Florida, Cathy Steder of Dixon, Illinois, Annette (Randy) Lucas of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, and both LeRoy and Marty Clayton of Savanna; and eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Preceding Joe in death are both parents and a younger brother, Charles M. Sherwood.

Charles M. SHERWOOD

Funeral services for Charles M. Sherwood, 19, of 616 S. 9th St., who was killed in an auto accident Saturday morning, were held today with a requiem high mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's church. Rev. Raymond J. Ruppenkamp was the celebrant. St. Mary's high school choir sang the mass. The organist was Miss Nancy McCarthy.

Attending in a group was the senior class of St. Mary's high school.

The following students from St. Ambrose college served as ushers: Thomas Belezos, Kevin Mulvihill, and Eugene Goral. The mas was preceded by a prayer service in the Delaney funeral home at 9 a.m.

Pallbearers were Robert R. Blohm, Lee G. Bossen, Terry C. Jorgensen, Donald E. Joslin, Arthur W. Ladehoff and Francis Radvich.

Attending from out of town were Mrs. Donald Lehr, St. Joseph MO, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sherwood Jr., Morrison IL, Emil Riedal and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Riedal, all of Monticello, Mr. and Mrs. Al Lampe, Dubuque, Thomas Belezos, Galesburg IL, Kevin Mulvihill, Grand Rapids MI and Eugene Goral, Dixon IL.

Interment services will be held at a later date, pending the arrival of the brother Pfc. Joseph Sherwood, from Okinawa.

Services for Charles M. Sherwood, 19, 616 S. 9th St., who was killed in an automobile accident last Saturday were held today with a prayer service at 2 p.m. in the Dulaney funeral home, conducted by Rev. Francis E. Bass.

Burial was in the family plot in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Fulton, Ill.
