Six Clintonland People Become U.S. Citizens

SOURCE: Clinton Herald 10 March 1958

Six residents of Clinton and surrounding territory became citizens of the United States Friday during a naturalization ceremony in Federal District court, Davenport.  Fifty-nine former citizens of 18 countries were naturalized.

Clintonland candidates approved for citizenship were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wenzel, 96 28th Ave. N., Mrs. Willhelmina Ibs, 556 11th Ave. S., and Mrs. Hildegard Boenke, 437 4th Ave. S., all of Clinton, Mrs. Amanda Hansen of Bryant and Wolfgang Kientof of Camanche.

Naturalization followed extensive studies and examinations.  A packed courtroom witnessed the ceremony and heard the judge and other officials congratulate the new citizens.
