Cox Creek No. 1 - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in Section 12. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the [following ] information ... Cox Creek No. 1, northwest of Communia, was conveyed by John Van Staaden on July 9, 1881."

Cox Creek No. 3 - aka Dohrer school. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located on the southern border of Section 5 and northern border of Section 8. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the information that some of the school sites were founded before or about the time that Abe Lincoln became president. The next oldest school [after No. 5, aka Downey school, info. below], according to the deed record, is Cox Creek No. 3, in section 8. It is known as the Dohrer school and was deeded to the district on April 29, 1862, by William Cain. The deed stipulates that the ground was to be used for school purposes and also for a political and religious meeting place."

Cox Creek No. 4 - aka Mederville school. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located south of Mederville in Section 22, just north of the Section 27 border. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the [following ] information ... Cox Creek No. 4, the Mederville school in section 22, was deeded by Henry Meder on Sept. 7, 1874."

Cox Creek No. 5 - aka Downey School - The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located just north of the Section 10 border, in Section 3. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the information that some of the school sites were founded before or about the time that Abe Lincoln became president. The land for the Downey school, south of town at the intersection of highway 13 and the Chicken Ridge road, was deeded to the school in 1859. The recital of the deed, which was dated Oct. 10, 1859, shows John Bartles conveying the ground to the Cox Creek district for use as a school site."

Cox Creek No. 8 - AKA Dinan School. The 1886 Warner-Foote plat shows this school located in the northwestern portion of Section 24. Near Littleport. A newspaper article about county schools printed in The Clayton County Register, February 18, 1954 gives the following information about this school: "...research through deed and abstract records of the county yields the [following ] information ... H.L. Meyer, local abstractor ... has searched the records for the origin of [this school] lot, but has found no conveyance of any kind. Apparently when [the] school was needed back in the early days, some land owner said, "build her here." It was put there and that was that."
