Joe Meyer, 33, farm laborer of Millville township, was fined $300. in the court of W. H. Antes Monday on the charge of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, according to Sheriff Arnold Mueller, who filed information against him after Meyer was arrested for driving a tractor on the highway while in an intoxicated condition.

William B. Kann, president of the Pioneer Wood Products, Inc., in Guttenberg, was fined $700. and costs in the Court of Judge W. H. Antes Monday on charges of illegal possession of gambling devices and illegal possession of liquor, following Kann's apprehension with a large number of punch boards in his possession.

Ike Moreland, also of Guttenberg, was fined $100. and costs by Judge Antes for illegal possession of gambling devices

Monday, February 24, Alex Jaeger of Guttenberg was fined $300. and costs in the court of Judge W. H. Antes on charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Suspension of drivers license was included with the above fine.

Roy Walters Plead guilty to a drunken driving charge before District Judge T. H. Goheen and was fined $300., had is driver's license suspended for 60 days, and had his liquor license revoked.

Glen Hudson of Elkader appeared before Justice of the Peace Barton in Elkader, April 16, and paid a fine of $90. for leaving the scene of an accident in Elkader without reporting it. Hudson had ran into the automobile of Charles Hughes in Elkader and immediately left the scene. Not leaving the scene at the time of the accident was a passenger in the Hudson car, Erwin Ernst of Highland, who was arrested for intoxication and fined $90. according to Justice of the Peace Barton.

Jack Goodin, Volga farmer, was fined $15. during a hearing before Justice Ray Barton, Thursday afternoon, June 19. Goodin was charged with intoxication and disturbing the peace.

Pete Larson and Don Finnegan were arrested and sentenced on charges of intoxication. Larson was given a 30 day Jail sentence, but 25 days were suspended. Finnegan was fined $5. and costs.

Local peace officers were kept busy during the last week and the population of the county jail was increased when four men and one woman were arrested and found guilty of intoxication. Among persons now in the jail are:
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Atwood. Arrested for drunkedness, and placed in the county jail when they did not pay their fines.
Luther Voshell, Elkader, received a 15 day sentence.
Louis West, sentenced to 20 days.
Pete Larson was returned to the county jail after a state highway patrolman found him in an intoxicated condition on the road one mile east of Luana. Previously Larson had served five days on a 30 day sentence. Commitment had been withheld on the remainder of the term on the condition that he remain sober.

Sheriff A. W. Mueller and Glenn Mueller took Henry D. Pino to Iowa City Wednesday morning for a psychopathic examination. Pino is being held in the county jail on an arson charge following three fires in Guttenberg the night of Aug. 30. His trial is pending the result of the psychopathic examination by University hospital doctors.

Gunnar Landsgaard, St. Olaf, pleaded guilt and was fined $300. and costs by Judge W. H. Antes Monday on a charge of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Charges grew out of an accident in which Landsgaard, driving a truck, sideswiped a bus carrying Loras college, Dubuque, football players to Decorah last Sunday.

Lawrence Meinen, formerly a tenant on the Art Welterlen farm near Edgewood, plead guilty to arson and was sentenced to not more than 20 years in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison. The case grew out of the fire Sept. 29, which destroyed the house on the Wenterlen farm.
