Brass Band

The first concert band in Osceola is thought to have been formed in the spring of 1869. A meeting was held on Wednesday evening May 5, 1869 by the Brass Bandists. New instruments were to be obtained and practice was to start immediately under the leadership of Mr. Armstrong, a musician of no ordinary calibre and under whose instructions rapid advancement toward perfection was expected. A committee was appointed consisting of Aaron Johnson, George Wilson, and Julius Goldsmith to solicit subscriptions to assist in purchasing the instruments.
