Rock Township, Cherokee County, IA

Was originally a part of Tilden township but was detached in 1876. Name is derived from Rock Creek which flows through the township. Early settlers were Alexander Miller, Richard Larkin, Thomas Chapman, Charles Durkee in 1868; Blasius Spinharney, Daniel Melter, Adam Corzillius, Fred Bower, John Specht, Frank Kohn, Mattias and Jacob Fisch, "Matt" Thiel, John Braley, Thomas Caswell, Jacob Kirchner, and Dom Liffring.

School: Taught by Lucy Spinharney in the fall of 1870
Religious services: Roman Catholic in 1871
Marriages: Thomas Chapman to Miss Smith and Matt Schuh to Miss Carrie Spinharney
Cemetery: established in 1886; a child of John Thompson was the first burial there
