Granted until November, 1896, in order that sufficient time may be had for a proper consideration of an application for the pardon of said defendant.

Sentenced at September, 1895, term of the district court to the penitentiary at Anamosa, for a period of six months, for the offense of forgery. Granted upon the recommendation of the clerk of the district court, auditor, treasurer, recorder, and sheriff of Cerro Gordo county, a petition signed by 1,200 residents of Cerro Gordo county, letters from a large number of prominent citizens of Mason City and Cerro Gordo county, and the consent of the trial judge, and the county and assistant county attorney who prosecuted the case. Said suspension is to remain in force during such time as the said Van Auken shall in every respect demean himself as an orderly and law-abiding citizen.
