Obituary - Dorothy Mae (Farrow) Fessler
1920 ~ 2005

Dorothy Mae Fessler, 84, of 7668 160th St., Swaledale, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Swaledale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Dorothy was born Sept. 29, 1920 in rural Clear Lake, the daughter of Samuel and Irene (Bower) Farrow. She grew up and attended school in rural Clear Lake and then helped at home until her marriage.

She married Lloyd Fessler on Dec. 24, 1939 in Clear Lake. They moved to the Fessler farm northwest of Swaledale, where they farmed together until Lloyd passed away in 1970. She continued to live on the farm until her death.

Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, loving her kitties, playing Yahtzee, fishing, watching sports - both football and basketball, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and most of all she loved to spend time and play with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Dorothy was a member of the Swaledale Methodist Church, UMW and Sarah Circle and the Swaledale Senior Citizens.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, David Fessler and his wife, Fran, Des Moines, Iowa and Richard Fessler and his wife, Judy, Swaledale; five grandchildren, Troy Fessler, Garner, Iowa, Jodi McClung and her husband, Scott, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Cory Fessler and his wife, Nikki, Swaledale, Chad Fessler and his wife, Tonya, Clear Lake and Brian Fessler and his wife, Amy, Nora Springs, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren, Collin and Alexis McClung; Noah Sparks and Makenzie Fessler, Sierra Craighton, Alex Fessler, Keagan Fessler and Makia Fessler, Kaylea Fessler; two sisters, Louise Jones, Clear Lake and Helen Peterson and her husband, Wilbur, Garner; three brothers, Robert Farrow and his wife, Beverly, Norwalk, Iowa, Jay Farrow and his wife, Darlene, Adel, Iowa and Donald Farrow, Akron, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Ruth Farrow, Perham, Minn., Alma Spilman, Clear Lake, Verneice Pedersen and her husband, John, Swaledale, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Fred Banks, Clear Lake.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd, on Nov. 23, 1970; brother, Lynn Farrow; sisters, Leona Rutledge and infant, sister Maxine.
