Memories of Flooding

Stories have come in from three persons who recall the flood hero In early days which took one man's life and endangered the lives of several others. A story in the Globe Gazette Thursday in which William E. Stillson recalled a drowning hero about 1872 aroused memories of other incidents at high water times among old residents here.

Mrs. Ella McCormick, 1301 Fourth street southeast called at the Globe-Gazette office and telephoned information about the man who was drowned.

Mrs. Frank [Ella] McCormick told of an incident in which a stable was broken up by the flood and a horse tied to a manger floated down the river, Milo Curtis, father of Mrs. McCormick, finally rescued the horse which was little the worse for its experience.
