This is a family photo of the Peter and Hanna Johansdotter Swanson Family. Peter and Hannah were married 3 Dec 1878, Rock Falls, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.  The photo was taken about 1890.

Edward Carl Swanson the third child of Peter and Hannah Swanson spent his entire life in Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo, County Iowa.  He married Clara Minnie Fog (pronounced Fogue) b. 12 Aug 1884, Iowa d. 20 Feb 1969 Clear Lake, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.  They were married about 1905.

These photos are of Clara Fog Swanson (later Shields) at various times in her adult life:  as a young woman, at age 50 and late in life.

Elizabeth Jane 'Betty' Swanson

Paul Swanson married Helen Marie Buffington 12 Nov 1928, Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, Iowa.  Helen was b. 7 Nov 1909, Wyman, Louisa County, Iowa d. 15 Apr 1989, Newport Beach, Orange County, California.  They were married approximately three years and had one child, Elizabeth Jane 'Betty' Swanson.

The wedding portrait of Paul and Helen Buffington is missing from archives and files.

Edward and Clara Fog Swanson's second child, Lorraine married Donald C.  Henn.  Don was b. 31 May 1906, Hawkeye, Fayette County, Iowa and d. 24 Dec 1979 Lakeland, Polk County, Florida.

The two photos at left were taken near the time of their marriage 5 May 1929, Swaledale, Iowa and in 1962.  Don will be remembered by many as principal at Monroe Junior High School and then John Adams Junior High School.  Lorraine was active in the Mason City Women's Club.  Both were members of the Presbyterian Church in Willowbrook where they lived for many years.

Don and Lorraine's niece, Betty Swanson, grew up in their home.




Florence

Edward and Clara Fog Swanson's youngest child was Florence F. Swanson.  Florence married Roland Bacon.  Roland was Dir. Industrial Arts, Danville Public Schools, Danville, Virginia.

This photo is of Florence, probably taken around the time she and Roland married.
