   Agreeably to an act entitled "act providing for the taking the second census or
enumeration of the inhabitants of the territory of Wisconsin," after having taken the oath
required by said act, I have taken the Census of County of Des Moines in said Territory
and fined it to contain, four thousand six hundred and five persons (4605)
      James Cameron Sheriff for the County of Des Moines
June 9th 1838

Des Moines County     } ss   Be it remembered that on this day to wit the 10th day of June
1838, personally came before me the undersigned a Justice of the Peace in and for said
County John M. Garrigus, Who being by me duly sworn deposeth that two correct
coppies of the list of the census for the County of Des Moines and territory of Wisconsin
has posted up in two of the most public places in said County previous to the return of the
Sheriff to the Secretary of the Territory
Given under my hand and seal this 10th day of June 1838
