CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS.

CONSTITUTION.

ARTICLE 1.--This society shall be known as the Cass County Farmers' Institute.
ART. 2.--Its object shall be the advancement of the science of agriculture.
ART. 3.--Any person may become a member of the society by the anual payment of 50 cents. The society may also by vote grant honorary memberships.
ART. 4.--The officers of the society shall consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and an executive board, consisting of the foregoing officers and three (3) additional members, which three additional members shall constitute a finance committee.
ART. 5.--The society shall hold annual meetings at such time and place as shall be determined by the Executive Board.
ART. 6.--This constitution and the accompanying by-laws may be amended at any regular annual meeting by a two-thirds vote of the members present.

BY-LAWS.

1--The President shall preside at all meetings of the society and with the advice of the Secretary shall call meetings of the executive board, and have general supervision of the affairs of the society.
2--The Vice-President shall act in the absence or disability of the President and perform all the duties of the chief officer.
3--The Secretary shall attend to all correspondence, shall record the proceedings of the society, preserve all papers belonging to the same, and superintend the publication of its reports. He shall also present a detailed report of the affairs of the society at its annual meeting.
4--The Treasurer shall receive and keep an account of all moneys belonging to the society and disburse the same on written order of the President countersigned by the Secretary, and shall make an annual report of the receipts and disbursements, and furnish the secretary with a copy of the same on or before the first day of the annual meeting.
5--The Executive Board shall be subject to the approval of the society; have the general management of its affairs and fill all vacancies in the board of officers. A majority of the board constituting a quorum to transact business.
6--It shall be the duty of the Finance Committee to settle with the Treasurer and to examine and report upon all bills or claims against the society which may have been presented and referred to them.
7--All officers of the society shall be elected annually and shall hold their respective offices until their successors are qualified. The term of all officers of this society shall expire on the first day of June, next following the annual meeting. The membership becomes delinquent on the day before the annual meeting. Membership to be perpetual upon the payment of annual fee at the time above specified.
8--The election of officers shall take place on the afternoon of the last day of the regular annual meeting in such manner as the society shall determine. All who have paid their annual membership fee and all honorary members being entitled to vote.
9--No person shall be eligible to the office of President, Vice-President, Secretary or Treasurer, who has not been a member of the society for two consecutive years.
