William and Sarah Trailer were early settlers in Brighton Township. The cover of their Bible is inscribed "William and Sarah Trailer", but according to photocopied documents found inside the Bible the original spelling of the surname was Traylor. Birth, marriage and death entries range from 1832 to 1886. It appears that William's first wife (Sarah A. Bell) died early in 1868 and he remarried later that same year to another Sarah (Sarah E. Johnson). The first page of birth records appears to be with his first wife, and the second page with his second. The old handwriting is somewhat difficult to read, but a "best effort" transcription is included below. Original images have been included. Click on the images for an enlarged view..

Found between the pages of the Bible were photocopies of Henry Traylor's 1824 "license and marriage contract", evidently made by a great-grandson/daughter. The license and marriage contract photocopies have also been included, but due to the quality of the photocopy no attempt has been made to transcribe the contract. Both are dated July 21, 1824. Handwritten notes on the contract specify "Gerrard County". The contract was signed by Henry Traylor, and apparently also by Elizabeth Robinson [or Robison as specified in the original Bible record pages?]. Henry and Elizabeth were the parents of William Trailer.
