Is anyone researching the Bennett family in Iowa? My grandmother Martha Bennett married my grandfather Sherman King. My father Leonard Ross King was born in NE Iowa somewhere near Oelwein, Hazleton, or West Union. Hazleton and Independence have ties to the King family. Any information about the Bennett family will be greatly appreciated. I also have information on the Wisconsin Pardee family and the Glew family from Dubuque County, Iowa and am willing to share.

I am looking for information on my grandmother MARTHA BENNETT who was the wife of SHERMAN KING. My father Leonard Ross King was one of their 5 children. I have the King family traced back to Scotland but know nothing of my grandmother Martha's family. She died in the early 1950's. They are buried in the Hazleton cemetery....I think the name of the cemetery is Fontana Park. It is south of Hazleton. Any help you may give me would really be appreciated. My parents and siblings lived in Fayette county in Oelwein, Iowa. I was raised by my great aunt and uncle Frederick George WALKER and Sadie (Sara) Louise (Glew) Walker. We lived on a farm between Hazleton and Oelwein in Buchanan county. Any information anyone may have on FRED WALKER would also be appreciated. Fred was born in 1888 and he died in 1952. My great great great-grandfather, David HUGHES, is listed on the 1860 Federal Census for Buchanan County. The census sheet on which they are listed is Page No. 106 in Superior Township, Post Office Tulip Grove. When searching the 1995 Iowa DOT map & the 1998 DeLorme Iowa Atlas & Gazetteer I can find neither Superior Township nor Tulip Grove. Does anyone know where these places were located? I checked the place names site on the webpage and did not find them there. Thanks for the help. Teresa Wilson

My ancestors were in Liberty Twp., Buchanan Co., Iowa as early as 1856 as I found them in a special census for that yr. However, he died the same yr. and they are both buried in the Quasqueton cemetery in Liberty Twp. I was just wondering if you could possibly find her in the 1860 census. Their names were James and Margaret Palmer. She could be in her son in laws house by that time. His name was Thomas Edie. If possible could you please check the 1870 census for her also. She died in 1871. I would be so grateful to have anything you may find on her. Thank you so much. Ginger

Thomas' wife, Mary Jane, had a brother Charles MILLER who lived just over the county line in Polk Township, Benton Co. Both families moved to IA from Green County Wisconsin! I am wondering when the Daughenbaughs arrived in IA and whether Nancy Miller's husband, Jacob accompanied them. Thanks! Linnea
