Lorraine submitted the
following corrections for Oakwood Cemetery and her Leslie-Pearsall
family. Lorraine is the great granddaughter of Samuel and Lucia Augusta
Pearsall-Leslie.
-
Samuel
Leslie isn't buried in Oakwood, his wife Clara Leslie, son George
Leslie and Samuel's brother John are buried in that plot.
-
Samuel
remarried. His daughters, Clara Golden Leslie and Mary Lavina
(Loania) Leslie are buried in their grandparents' (Horace B. and
Lavina (Loania) Walker-Pearsall's plot in Oakwood Cemetery. There
doesn't appear to be any headstones for the two little girls.
-
Samuel is
buried beside his last wife, Lucia Augusta Pearsall Leslie at the
Union Cemetery, Spencer, Nebraska. Their daughter, Jenny Bell
Leslie and their granddaughter, Lucia Lenora Leslie are buried in
the same plot with them.
-
Samuel was
married to Clara Olivia Brooks, May 2, 1853. She died in 1854. He
married Sophia M. Pierce, daughter of Marinus and Mary "Polly"
Pierce on December 11, 1856. She died November 27, 1859 at the home
of her brother in-law, James Leslie in Summit County, Ohio. She was
survived by a daughter, Adelia or Adella F. Leslie who shows up on
the 1860 census but not on the 1870 census. I don' t know where
Sophia and Adelia (Adella) are buried. Sophia's parents are buried
in Oakwood Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.
-
Samuel
married Lucia Augusta Pearsall on January 6, 1864 in Buchanan
County, Iowa. He died August 2, 1894 near Spencer, Nebraska.
