Newell Oliver Warland
September 9, 1907 ---- January 22, 1993

Newell Oliver Warland was born September 9, 1907, the son of Nels and Tillie Friesth Warland, at Beaver Township, Webster County. He received his education in rural country school near Badger. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Ulstad of Eagle Grove on May 30, 1937, at Eagle Grove. The couple spent their first 11 years of marriage on a farm southwest of Thor. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1948. He worked as a painter, carpenter and as a farmhand. He retired at the age of 75. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Newell Oliver Warland died at his home in Eagle Grove, January 22, 1993, at the age of 85 years, four months, and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Perley Warland; and two sisters, Ella Torkelson and Amy Dencklau. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Mildred) Cameron of Millsap, Texas, four sisters, Gurena Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Claris Vik and Rose Overgaard, both of Humboldt; and Sadie Gostovich of Ladysmith, Wis.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 27, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Lyle Peters officiated at the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
