Richard Bonte, 70, Hot Springs Village, AR, died June 26, 2022. A visitation/sharing will be held July 5 at 10 a.m. at CedarVale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at CedarVale Cemetery.

Rick was born in Belmond on March 3, 1952 to Merle and Joyce Bonte. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1970, then attended Iowa State University where he earned a BA in political science.   

Rick moved back to Belmond and worked for his father as a plumber in the family business. In 1977 he married his wife Dixie and they purchased Bonte Plumbing and Heating in 1980. They ran the business until 1999. Rick was active with the Belmond Jaycees and took pride in helping with the annual fireworks display.

In 1999 Rick and Dixie moved to Hot Springs where Rick continued his plumbing career with City Plumbing and Electric. He, along with Ronnie Carroll and Elwen Guthrie, purchased the business in 2005 and ran the operation as City Plumbing, Heating and Electric Inc. Rick retired in 2021 and sold his shares in the company. During this time, he was a member of several civic groups and helped organize donations to charities in the Hot Springs area. In his spare time, Rick liked to watch TV, eat good food, and sit on the deck to look at the lake with Dixie.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and younger brother Brian Bonte (Bev) of Hutchinson, MN. He is survived by step-son Steffan Paul (Angie) of Wichita, KS; and brother John (Martha) of Cedar Rapids.
