Donna R. Classon, 78, of Iowa Falls, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at Scenic Manor. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2022 at Abundant Life Chapel in Dows. She will be laid to rest with a private family graveside inurnment on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Friday, June 24 at the church. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for Donna and her family.

Donna Rae (Sorenson) Classon was born on April 28, 1944 to Donald Thomas and Helen Marie (Stuart) Sorenson in Walt Hill, Nebraska. On September 3, 1962 Donna was united in marriage to James Unger at the United Methodist Church in Dows, Iowa. They later divorced. She was a member of the Abundant life Church in Dows.

During her life, Donna held various jobs throughout the years, but her passion lied in caring for all. Especially her children, grandchildren and the many loved ones she called "her children", that were very dear to her heart.

On June 2, 1984 Donna married Gordon Eugene Classon at the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows, Iowa.
Donna loved flowers, gardening, bird watching, karaoke (to listen to Rocky sing), playing darts, drinking Coke, hanging out with friends and especially loved Dows Corn Days, listening to music and dancing to the Streetband.

Halloween was one of her favorite holidays. She enjoyed dressing up and making costumes for her family. Everyone enjoyed her garbage salad and all the delicious foods she made. She loved to cross stitch and made tie blankets for all the kids and grandkids, that they will cherish always.

There was a special joy about Donna. She always had her arms wide open with love and compassion for others. Her family never left her without saying "I love you" and hearing "I love you more" back.

Donna Classon is survived by her children, Laurie Amsbaugh of Goldfield, Iowa, Leslie Unger of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Missy (Steve) Brannick of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Shelley Classon of Norwalk, Iowa, Sherri Classon of Indianola, Iowa and Roxanne Petersen of Iowa Falls, Iowa; grandchildren: Raychel (Andy) McDonough, Cassie Baysinger, Shaylee (Matt) Morrell, Zach Classon, Dustin (Morgan) Petersen, Mazy Davalos, Andrea Unger, Tristan Brannick, Karly (Josh Hassebrock) Hall, Hannah (Curtis) King, Jensyn Hall, Colton Phillips, Justin Pedersen, Chelsey Pedersen, Camden Phillips, Blaise Brannick, Peyton Johansen and McKailyn Brannick; fifteen great-grandchildren and one due in July; siblings: Diane (Martin) Tjernagel, George Sorenson, Gordon Sorenson and Darael (Terry) Zimmermann along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Classon; son, James Unger Jr.; daughter, Dawn Rae Unger; brother, Versel Sorenson; brother, Orville Sorenson and three grandsons, James Baysinger, James Unger III and Jacob Pedersen.
