The second tragic, accidental death to strike this community in a week happened last Wednesday night about 10:30 when Rex Robinson, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Robinson, was killed in an automobile accident northeast of Badger or about 11½ miles west of Eagle Grove.

The car Robinson was driving hit loose gravel, according to highway patrolmen, went out of control, slid on its side and turned over several times in the ditch at the side of the gravel road. Young Robinson was thrown clear of the car and then crushed and killed instantly when the car rolled on him.

Three other teenagers riding with Robinson were only slightly injured. They were Joe Biondahl, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Manly Biondahl of Thor, another Eagle Grove high school student, Pat Thompson, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tod Thompson of Eagle Grove, and Marjorie Vinnece, 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vinnece of Thor. Miss Thompson suffered a fractured arm and all suffered bruises and cuts and shock. They were given emergency treatment in Humboldt. Robinson's body was brought to the Kastler Funeral home in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services for Rex were held in the United Presbyterian church in Goldfield on Saturday at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. C. G. McKnight officiating. Burial was in Goldfield cemetery.

Rex was a member of the junior class in Eagle Grove high school, a member of the Future Farmers of America and a student specializing in vocational agriculture. He is survived by his parents, his brother Lee, his grandparents Mrs. Thomas White of Clarion, and Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Robinson of Eagle Grove.

Obituary of John Rex Robinson

John Rex Robinson, son of Farrell and Fern Robinson, was born April 12, 1937 in Wright county, near Renwick, Iowa. He died suddenly in an automobile accident on October 14, 1953 near Thor, Iowa, at the young age of 16 years.

Rex was a junior in the Eagle Grove high school, a member of the Future Farmers of America organization of Eagle Grove. He was a member of the Goldfield Presbyterian congregation and its church school.

Mourning their loss today are his parents, his brother Lee, his grandparents Mrs. Tom White of Clarion and Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Robinson of Eagle Grove and a host of relatives and friends.

Rex was a good boy, industrious and busy, an earnest, sincere student, and was growing up attractively, giving promise of an upright and well-respected man and citizen. The writer of Proverbs tells us that "even a child is known by his doings." Rex had a good reputation, and all we knew about him was good. He enjoyed life, had a happy disposition, and he made friends readily. His hobby was making model airplanes of which he had made 25 or 30.

We thank God for his Christian faith, and that he had stepped out on the Lord's side on March 20, 1949 when he was publicly baptized as a professed disciple of 'Jesus Christ. With St. Paul we are "confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work" in His people "will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Phil. 1:6).

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 17 in the United Presbyterian church of Goldfield in charge of' the pastor Rev. C. O. McKnight. Pallbearers were his church school teacher James B, Stevenson and five classmates Merril Rasmussen, Perry Slaikeu, Dean Duitscher, Dan Stephens and Richard Hansen. Music was by a male quartette composed of Richard McCutcheon, Eldon Rasmussen, Jerry Theobald and Dunne Reichter. Organist was Mrs. Merle Harvey, the church organist. Ladles of the Women's Auxiliary of the church served luncheon afterward to the family and relatives.
