December 21, 1945 --- September 23, 2021

Dean “Tiny” Kvale, 75, of Deep River, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Montezuma Specialty Care in Montezuma. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Dean Leslie Kvale, the son of Leslie and Lucille (Knight) Kvale, was born on December 21, 1945 in Goldfield, Iowa. He attended Goldfield High School. After high school, Tiny moved to Colorado where he lived a short time and started his mechanical career. He moved back to Iowa living in Humboldt, Radcliffe and Dayton before moving to Deep River in 1993 where he was a mechanic for Lowry Equipment. On November 2, 1996, Tiny was united in marriage to Hermanetta Borwig at the United Church in Deep River. Tiny began Tiny’s Repair Shop in Deep River in 1996. Tiny was a very talented mechanic who worked on automobiles, machinery and skid loaders over the years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, NASCAR, tractor pulling, Go Kart Motors, watching “Old Westerns” and above all spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the NFL rooting for every team except the Denver Broncos and was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan.

His legacy will be honored by his wife, Hermanetta Kvale of Deep River; his son, Jay (Courtney) Kvale of Colorado Springs, Colorado; step children, Tammy (Rich) Chartier of New Market, Iowa, Brian “Pecker” (Courtney) Borwig of Deep River, Chris Carson of Oskaloosa, Stephanie (Jim) Vierkandt of Buckeye, Steve Kvale of Humboldt and Jason (Andrea) Ries of Polson, Montana; his grandchildren, Zach Kvale and Tyler Kvale; several step grandchildren; two siblings, Karen (Marlen) Lund of Goldfield and Joann Nelson of Goldfield and many other relatives and friends.

Tiny was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Avory Kvale; a step son, Joel Kvale and two sisters, Teri Fry and Patty Hawkins.
