Carl William Snyder, Jr., the son of Carl William and Mary (Jenkins) Snyder, was born on November 16, 1929, in Polk City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Corning, graduating from Corning High
School in 1948. He served in the National Guard for five years. On August 16, 1949, Carl was united in marriage with Bonnie E. Cobb in Corning. The couple moved to Goldfield in 1971 and Carl worked for Umthun Trucking until his retirement in 1995. Carl enjoyed “Mother Nature” — doing whatever he could to be outside, including gardening and mowing. He also liked to watch Westerns.

Carl passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab in Webster City, at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a son, Richard “Rick” Snyder in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Snyder, of Goldfield; sons: Dennis Snyder (Ora) of Bayard, Garry Snyder (Norma) of Eagle Grove, Tim Snyder (Anna) of Eagle Grove, and Tom Snyder of Goldfield; daughter, Mary Annette Vang (Bill) of Wellsburg; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield.
Foust Funeral Homes, Eagle Grove and Goldfield was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
