Charles Pohlman, 85, died Thursday morning at the home of his son Edward Pohlman following a long illness.

Mr. Pohlman came to Wright County when he was eight years old, and he had been a resident of this community for over 75 years. He is survived by his six children, Edward and Floyd of Eagle Grove, Tillie Olson of Edgerton, Wis.; Mrs. Emil Oldson of Champaign, Ill., Roy of Malcom, and Elmer of Waterloo. Also two brothers, Wm. Pohlman of Clarion and Art Pohlman of Waterloo, and seventeen grandchildren, and thirty two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held here, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Wilson's Chapel with Rev. Harry Stockle officiating.

Burial was on the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Obituary

Charles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Pohlman was born in Mendota, Illinois on October 17, 1867 and passed away at the home of his son, Edward Pohlman, Thursday morning, May 28, 1953. At the time of his passing he was 85 years, 7 months and 11 days of age.

Mr. Pohlman came with his parents to Wright County when a boy of eight years of age and has made this county his home since. They settled on a farm east of Eagle Grove and he farmed most of his life. He attended the country schools, and at an early age he was baptized and was for many years a member of the Baptist Church.

In the year of 1888 he was united in marriage to Frances Arvilla Broffle [Broeffle] at Clarion, Iowa. To this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. They are: Edward of Eagle Grove, Tillie Olson of Edgerton, Wis., May, Mrs. Emil Oldson of Champaign, Ill., Roy of Malcom, Elmer of Waterloo and Floyd of Eagle Grove. There are also 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Two half brothers, William Pohlman of Clarion and Art Pohlman of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances and two daughters, Bessie, dying in infancy and Lillie, Mrs. George Olson, passing away in 1918.

Mr. Pohlman was a good man, a loving father and a good neighbor. He will be missed by his large family and many friends.

Services were held Friday afternoon at, two o'clock at Wilson's Chapel with Rev. Harry F. Stickle of the Baptist Church in charge, and interment was made on the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery.
