John B. Rasmussen died at his home west of town early Monday morning. Mr. Rasmussen had a cancer and had gone to Rochester two years ago for treatment but nothing could be done for him. For the past month he has been practically bedfast but the end came suddenly on Monday. He has always been an outstanding farmer and citizen of this community. He was ever ready with a kind word to all. The family had a farm sale in the early winter and intended to move into the Attebury house on March 1st.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon and the service was conducted by the Rev. W. S. Handy. Interment was held in the Glenwood cemetery.

Obituary

John B. Rasmussen was born in the Evergreen neighborhood of Wright county on Feb. 18, 1874, and died at his home northwest of town Feb. 20, 1933, at the age of 59 years and two days.

His entire life has been spent in this community. At the age of 18 he united with the United Presbyterian church, thereby beginning a fellowship with the church which continued until his death.

In the year 1899 he was united in marriage to Daisy Helmer and shortly thereafter transferred his church membership to the Methodist Episcopal church of Goldfield.

One son, Raymond P. was born to them. He with his mother are left to mourn the passing of the devoted husband and father.

John until his health broke about two years ago, was active in the affairs of the community and the church. For some time he served on the school board and for many years was trustee of the local Methodist church, continuing in the latter office until his failing health made necessary his release.

Besides the wife and son, there are left four brothers, Rasmie of Lyons, Mich., Fred A., Hans P. and Chris L. and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Godfredson and Mrs. Minnie Christensen and one grandson. The Sympathy of the whole community is with these bereaved ones.
